K-1 and KP latest firmware

Hello Folks,
I can't find the latest 1.51 firmware for my K-1 and KP. Will someone help me with this, please?
Thank you,
Terry

I thought the KP firmware was 1.51 for the new DA lens.

Adam,
I thought the KP firmware was 1.51 too, for the new DA 11-16 lens. I saw it myself, but can't find it now.
Thanks,
Terry

I don't believe crop bodies needed an update for the new lens. 1.10 is the newest for the KP.

"Changes to V1.10
Optimized performance when attaching new lens HD PENTAX-D FA*50mmF1.4 SDM AW.
Improved stability for general performance."

So, no, nothing to do with the 11-18 lens.

I do note that, on the K-1, the latest firmware is specifically for this lens:

"Changes to V1.51
Optimized performance when attaching new lens HD PENTAX-DA*11-18mmF2.8ED DC AW.
*When this update is done, the contents of version 1.50 and earlier will be also updated."

It appears I have the latest firmware for my KP. I purchased it 6/6/2017 and it has firmware V1.10, which is prior to this firmware release. The one mentioned in this thread is dated 07/12/2018, did they keep the same name?

Good enough, thank you. What if I want to use my new 50mm 1.4. Will the KP be good to go with V1.10?

It's worth mentioning that Ricoh is pretty good at providing timely firmware updates to support new lenses and features, but only when they're necessary. As such, if no new firmware update is made available for a camera before, or very shortly after, the release of a compatible product, you can safely assume it's already catered for in the latest available firmware version...

That's good to know. I just bought my KP, so I'll check to see what I already have.

Hello All,

My experience updating my newly purchased KP. Downloaded the file from Latest PENTAX KP Firmware Update : Software Downloads | RICOH IMAGING. Saw no "self expansion" as described on the site page. Expanded the .zip file with the Win 7 utility in windows explorer, which produced the .bin file in a folder. Copied folder to the formatted sd card in the camera. Update; no joy. Copied the .bin file out of the folder to the root directory. Update; no joy. Disconnected the camera from the 'puter. Update; JOY! So, maybe obvious to others, but thought my procedure might be helpful to fellow klutzes.

I think self-extracting just means that you need no special software to extract it. If you select "open" in the download dialogue box it will extract without having to save the zip file.

The instructions do say to copy the file , not the folder.

I too was confused with terms like "root directory" when I first updated a camera.

I think that self extracting means you don's have to do anything special to copy the file to the SD card. I simply double clicked on the downloaded zipped folder. It opened like any other folder, showing the file therein. I copied the file to the card like I'd do with any other file.
