1968 spotmatic with takamur 85 mm lens

i have just tried to use the camera.but this lens does not make the light meter work.
i took the lens off and set it to f16 and pressed the button on the bottom of the lens .nothing happened.
i tried another lens and the meter worked.
is there anything i can do to get the 85mm to work correctly
answers appreciated.
thanks

Which 85mm lens - Super Tak 85/1.9? Auto Tak 85/1.8?

What position is the Auto | Man switch in?

Is the lens an auto takumar, you may need to cock a lever before the aperture will close

Maybe diaphragm stuck open because of grease on the diaphragm blades.

Which Spotmatic is it? The SP F has a different way of metering, depending on the lens used. The later Takumars had a small pin on the lens that allowed the camera to meter without closing down the aperture to the set value.
