Vivitar 70-150mm 3.8 Lens with two problems

This just arrived. A Vivitar 70-150mm 1:3.8 macro fousing zoom

Problem one. Is this fungus or haze or something else.

Problem two. Crooked barrel. I did not want a tilt shift lens... Anybody ever encountered this and fixed it?

I got it for $9 from ebay so I am not bothering returning it to another continent.

It's a Vivitar with a 22xxxxx serial number, probably Kino Precision. The rear mount and aperture mechanism should just come off after removing the retaining screws. You can probably just the rear off and put it back on properly.

You mean the screws to the side just above the aperture ring?

Yes. Although it is a later version of the lens, most Kino lenses use the same basic design:

(see parts list)

You could ask for your money back from the vendor, or just forget it. Now you have an opportunity to strip down the lens and maybe correct the misalignment, the fungus will not be much of a problem even if you do nothing about it. Look at articles on disassembling similar lenses, you have very little to loose.

Thanks, I already found that site. Loosening the ring with the focusmark on it, just does that. Loosen the ring. I will have to open up the back I guess. The lens distorts images because the entire barrel is de centered.

The back element is not in the center.

I am hoping the problem in front is not separation (lens has a 2 element front group).

I am not going to bother $9 is still a good price for spares and repair.
