Pentax K1000 light meter issue

Hi all, I just bought a second hand SLR and even after testing out all the different settings and changing the battery, my light meter is just always in the middle. Is that fixable and if so does anyone have any idea of the price range that I could be looking at?

The most common cause of that in a K1000 is a corroded wire that goes from the battery holder to the circuit board.
