Does the flash discharge at full brightness correctly when you press the pilot button? If not, try a different set of batteries?

Contact the seller and request replacement based on the failure to fire in manual mode. Here in the U.S., most sellers will replace out of their stock, no questions asked, and will also cover shipping for both the return and the replacement. With any luck, your seller will offer you similar courtesy.
