Nick, if you're going to buy an old camera, ig might as well be a flagship instead of entry level.

It's more robust, with a proven aperture system and a shutter that has twice the life expectancy of the K-30/50 line.

Mine had the Aperture Failure about a year in. Aside from that, it has been pretty tough despite mistreatment. The kit lenses I got with it are, of course, useless to me now but I shoot primes or older aperture ring zooms anyways because I am thrifty and I love the image qualities of older glass. I would personally love to upgrade to a newer body that is not a KP (if it ever comes out) as it is getting a bit long in the tooth. However, If you like the old glass, don't crop much, and are not feeling spendy it is a fine machine.

A NIB Pentax could well have the problem much better solved if it was built after Dec. 2015. You can read about this in threads I started.
The K5 is always a good option and the more robust and more professional body, the K5II much more so.
But the K5 series cannot drive KAF4!
Another option could be the K-S2.
