DA 50mm focusing click

Hello Fellow Pentaxians,

I just bought the SMC Pentax-DA 50mm F1.8, It appears to be in mint condition.
As I have never had one before just wanted to know from regular users of this lens,
When I first attach the lens to the camera it seems to make a clicking sound on the first focus attempt is this Normal?
I put the camera in Manual focus and through the focus all the way in both directions, and its there again, now it focuses extremely fast so just wondered if its a kind of an internal slap due to the speed of the motor, just to add when it has done it once it seems normal when I just aim and focus on any target.

Many Thanks in Advance

There should be no sounds other than the ad drive shaft engaging the first time you switch from mf to af, which should be nearly indistinguishable from the regular focusing sound. Could you post a video of the lens focusing?

I agree with Adam. There is a click when the AF coupler from the screw drive mechanism on the lens mount of the camera first engages the lens. It should only make this clicking noise once though, unless you switch to manual focus or remove the lens. Then it will click again as the protruding slot slides into place inside the crevice of the lens focusing mechanism.
