SMC Pentax-FA 645 80-160mm F4.5 Manual

I have looked everywhere and can't find any information on the SMC Pentax-FA 645 80-160mm F4.5, primarily what appears to be a focusing ring of some sort. I've rotated it on manual or autofocus with no visible difference so can someone please tell me what the heck is this for?

Thank you in advance and I'm sorry for the novice question.

Dave

According to the review section one of the rings moves up and down in order to switch from manual to auto focus (like in other pentax lenses)

This is not what I'm referring to, there is a cut-out on the barrel and a ring in there that you can turn right or left, it's not the autofocus ring.

As far as I can see on this image, the only moving rings (from top to bottom) are zoom, focus, and aperture. What am I missing?

"A cut-out on the barrel"? Is the focus distance window missing?

Attached is a photo of the ring I'm talking about, what is this and what does it do.

It's a wheel that allows you to rotate a filter (polarising or graduated ND) without taking the hood off.

OMG, really? LOL, thank you. Interesting because all my filters are 150mm and the lens hood would be off anyway. OK, thank you for bringing light to the mystery Paul, I appreciate it.
