Well, I shoot college-level roller hockey using center spot AF with good results. Of course much depends on your own capabilities. Practice does make a difference.

Yes, Indeed! Very impressive. If I start having frequent needs beyond 300mm, I will be considering the DFA 150-450mm myself. I've had a Sigma 150-500mm for years, which I bought used locally in perfect condition, but I've wound up not using it very often. On occasions where I have used it, results seemed quite good. I have no doubt of the DFA lens's superiority, but with infrequent use, the cost is a factor, since I do have the range already covered with decent quality.
