K-1 mode dial broken?

My K-1 mode dial is malfunctioning, has anyone had this happen? It's not completely nonfunctional, but it doesn't properly go into each mode as the dial selection indicates

I don't think there's any way for this to be anything other than a hardware problem, but maybe there's some esoteric solution out there that I'm not aware of.

As I recall there was a problem with the early batches of K-1s that Ricoh acknowledged:
K1 Mode Dial Failure - PentaxForums.com

I suggest you contact Ricoh and see if it is still covered.

Thanks for the links -- It took a while on that first thread to find out what the described problem was; it quickly turned into arguing about Pentax service. It does seem to be a similar problem to mine, unfortunately.

The second thread on how to fix it yourself has lost the photos included, as the flickr account where they were hosted is no longer active.

Yeah I had the same problem. First the mode is not the good one, and after a while, you will be stuck in M mode (like the first thread above)

It would seem like they would be, based on what I read in the linked threads above. They seem to have changed the dial construction to a better one, or at least one of the comments in the thread indicated that.
