It was a bad idea to buy it from USA just due to the fact that if problems arise, one can't do much or it is pretty expensive.
For $ 40 you can buy the white solenoid and built it in yourself.
Read the
manual I wrote , it is straight forward.
And then get this amount back from the seller.

If you got it with a DA-L 55-300 lens, this sells cheap as well.
If you can find an *ist, K100D or similar you might find the solenoid cheap
Thank you but there is no way I am going to try and fix it, I managed to junk my 80-320mm lens trying to clean it inside and that has scarred me and acknowledges my D-I-Y skill level as very very poor.

Thank you all again, the seller and I have agreed an equitable Ģ50 refund and I may retain the body and use it specifically for manual lens use.
Maybe I will sell it on at a later date.
