K-70 OverExposed a lot ISO way high (FIXED)

So I got the K-70 not long ago from Amazon AU

For some reason the exposure is bad and blown out. I use Auto setting and all pentax lenses. That work fine with my 200-D.

Any help in plain english would be appreciated as to the possible cause or a fix

Not sure if some of it is that you are using center weight metering and focusing on a black dog? Maybe the camera is trying to expose for detail in the fur and is giving you brighter exposures than you need. I would try matrix metering and see if that is any better.

Is that the same as Pattern metering the first option in metering in settings
Thanks for the reply

checked all that in settings reset all the setting Set ISO to 400 for the 4th pick and it dumped the Shutter speed to 1/30 and F stop to F/5.6 I think and that was taken outside in bright sunlight.

I note all shots are wide open. And I find it hard to believe that 1/30 f6.3 and 400 iso is bright sunlight for the last shot. Remember the sunny 16 rule F 16 and shutter speed =1/ISO.

It Almost seems like the camera is on AV mode with different, between shots, limits on max iso. Clearly either the op or the camera is lost. Forget The programmed modes, start using one of the auto modes like Av or Tv and begin to take control from the camera

It has me beat have taken several thousand picks with the Pentax 200D with no problems same lenses I am using now, Am just having the problems with the new Camera purchased about 6 weeks ago.

Both have about the same menu system. Will take some controlled shots tomorrow. Providing it is not 40+ deg again.

Try resetting the camera back to default state. Those exposures are just plain wrong and don't fit with the images produced. Try some external daylight shots using the full range of program modes (Av, Tv etc.) with another lens. Your examples all use the same lens so trying another lens will tell you whether it is the lens or body which is faulty.

The program went bad and carried down the previous settings. Reset the camera. Use full auto mode.

I would do a reset on your camera settings before tying anything else. That auto mode is limited and some other setting may be affecting it. The center weighted metering definitely can cause some of that, I'm guessing the auto mode is selecting that.

The second image looks like flash have been used.
The flash probably could not set low enough power for a close range subject when using iso of 51k.

I have only adjusted the metering after I noticed the overexposures and set the ISO manually.

It has been overexposing with out of the Box Settings, camera dial set to the Green Auto, Bios was updated to 1.1 Before I took any photos with the camera.
