Hi I do not use any software to download images.
The newer Mac 15" has sd card reader so using that.
The older one 17" I use USB cables.
I haven't use my cameras for months, broken left arm and three operation so far, pretty sure more will to come.
Otherwise I use Lightroom ( 5.7 ) for processing.
