Photo quality

I've recently purchased a K100D Super and put my old Sigma 28-80mm lens on it. I've only taken a couple of photos but I’ve noticed that when I download the photos (files) to my PC they look very speckled (grainy). Have I set the camera up wrong? Before the K100 I was using a Cannon IXUS 330 (2M) and a comparable photo looks a 1000 times better off the IXUS.
I love my new camera but I’m extremely disappointed in the quality. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I have attached 1 of my photos and i hope that you can see the pixilation.

Hard to tell since there is no exif info in the picture.

What were your settings?

Resolution?
RAW or JPG?

Give us some extra info.

Things to check:

What is your ISO setting on the camera? Over 800, you'll notice "grain".

What is the "picture quality" setting in the camera? Check at which resolution you are taking pictures.

How do you load your images to your computer? Do you use a photo browser or image editor? If you save the images with a high JPEG compression factor, your images will show pixelation / posterization effects.
