focusing problems with my SMC Pentax-D FA 100mm F2.8 Macro ( non WR )

out trying to take photos with my K 3 II and the SMC Pentax-D FA 100mm F2.8 Macro ( non WR )

the autofocus seemed to get " stuck " from time to time, it would not focus for close work

took the lens off, no difference

turned camera off and on

no difference

then it started to work properly again

thoughts?

Could be the contacts. That's what I check first when having this type of an issue with a lens.

I use a pencil eraser

I thought of that but didn't see anything

and the lens screwed up and then worked properly without me cleaning the contacts ?

Clean the contacts anyway. The oxidation is not visible. It's not uncommon for me to get black residue on a cleaning cloth from clean looking contacts.
