I found that if I used the monochrome with yellow filter settings on my K20D, it pretty well matched the black and white conversion the DXO Optics of the time made. I knew I was getting a colour image, but the camera would give me a black and white preview which helped with composition. I still have my K20D. If you can find a similar combination of settings and conversion, you'll be able to get predictable results.

Several years ago I posted this thread about my K20 and set it up to do monochrome - All details are in the thread - still have the K20 and still setup this way but have sold the Takumars and adapter and now have a collection of M lenses instead.

Thanks very much for the link - I'll see where I get with it. Did have a look for related topics when I first posted, but must have missed this one. If I can, may set up my K10D for dedicated mono.

"Back in the day" when I had a darkroom I too could "think" in B&W ... a skill that sometimes resurfaces ... now let's find a body to suit, I've got the lenses
