Pentax K-70 (new) & Sigma 24-70mm 1:2.8 EX DG HSM

Hello and good morning. I bought a new K-70 body, new SD card (64GB SanDisk Extreme Pro), 2 new batteries, and...
And used Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG HSM.
Lens looks fantastic, have no signs of usage, feels like new.
So body works just fine when I out SD card and battery inside, and turn it on (with no lens installed).
Firmware installed on body is v1. 11 (newest).
Problem starts when I install Sigma lens, and turn camera on.
It instantly freezes.
All buttons, screen is freezed.
I can't even turn camera off, it stays on!
Only turns off when I pull battery out.
I can press a shutter button, and aftes few seconds it makes a picture, but stays like dead.
When I remove lens, it works normally again.
Body is new, and there is no traces of damage or any issue is not visible/obvious.
Anyone have a clue what to do with that, or why it's happening?
How to fix it maybe?
What the problem is?
Please help, i contacted Sigma support also, and waiting for their reply right now.

What body did you use before and do you still have it ?
How 'new' is the sigma .
Try the sigma on your older body and see if it does the same thing
KAF4 bodies dont seem to like newer sigma lenses without a lens update done to them.

As noted above, there are forward compatibility issues for some legacy Sigma HSM lenses on recent Pentax bodies. In the past, Sigma has been willing to reflash a lens to a more compatible firmware. With any luck, they will be able to do this for you.

Camera is new new, bought from shop. Never used.
That is my first Pentax camera, before I was using Sony Alpha system, but it was stolen years ago.

Thanks everyone for advice and passing related thread.
I contacted Sigma Service Department in UK, they asked for some details about lens (serial nr etc), and they replied that lens does require firmware update to work.
Update is free, I pay only 14 quid for shipping the parcel, so very reasonable.
Turns out that Sigma service is very professional, they respond quickly, and treat clients with lots of respect.
Nice, I like that.
I will post dinal reply after I will receive lens back with updated firmware.
Thanks again.

Let's not rush the facts. We will see after update.
Fingers crossed mate, it will work.
And I very much hope so
I will definitely enjoy it, I'm pretty sure about that.
That will be a nice change after using Sony Alpha 350 with KIT lens (LOL), but I loved it a lot.

Ok, fellas, now... I have a great update for you all.
Apparently, it is not widely known thing, but you can update a firmware, and change a lens settings at home, by yourselves !
There is a device called Sigma USB Dock.
See link:
Sigma USB Dock UD-01 PA for Pentax Fit Lenses

This device, and free Sigma software called SIGMA Optimization Pro (link below)
SIGMA Optimization Pro | Lenses | Download | SIGMA Corporation

Is enough to update firmware, and change most if not all available settings of lens.
Fits to all Sigma lenses, and you can get it in all existing camera fittings.
So you won't need to send lens to manufacturer, fill a RMA form, wait for shipping etc.
Brilliant!
And it cost only about 40 quid.
I just purchased it, and maybe I won't even need to send my lens to service centre anymore.

It's in Polish, but I'm sure your browser have an option to translate text
You'r welcome lads!

The "dock" only works on recent Gobal Vision (Contemporary, Sport, and Art) series lenses. Sorry

Steve
Oh well, bummer... If it won't work and at the end I will have to send lens to Sigma service, it still won't be the end of the world
Anyway, Sigma ART series is reasonably priced, and REALLY good, so who knows, maybe I will stick with Sigma lenses, and next will be something from the ART series ?
Dock might be handy in a future anyway.
