Hi there!

New member here, my apologies if this has previously been covered!

I recently purchased a Pentax 67ii which came with a chimney finder. I'm looking to find an eye level prism with metering.

The main model(s) I've seen online seem to be the AE / TTL metered VF - not sure if this is the same item just referred to by different names?

If anyone could help with a few questions that'd be immensely appreciated!

- Is there any difference between the older Pentax 6x7 AE eye level finders and the newer one with just Pentax written on them?
- Are the older Pentax 6x7 finders compatible with the 67ii body
- Does a 100% AE meter exist or is this limited to WLFs?
- Any other hints, suggestions etc to know about? I would prefer metering and an eye level finder

Ideally I'd get the clearest / biggest / brightest option with metering and minimal / no cropping.

TTL meter prisms for the Pentax 6x7 and Pentax 67 are not compatible with the later Pentax 67ii camera due to the electronics associated with different metering patterns, among other niceties. It should be possible to source a 67II metered prism online, but make astute enquiries as to condition and whether the finder has been subect to any abuse or modification.

You need to look for this prism:

PENTAX 67II AE Pentaprism Finder reviews - Pentax Camera Accessory Review Database

The seller should indicate it as an AE prism for the 67II. The TTL metered prism is for the older bodies and will not work.

Note the AE metered prism is on the pricey side.and is hundreds more than the TTL

The TTL and non-TTL prisms for the older Pentax 6x7 (1969) and Pentax 67 (1989) are distinguishable from the later, modern AE Pentax 67II prisms by their decidedly 'blocky' and 'antique' appearance as opposed to the modern electronic AE prism for the 67II (never appealed to me as I use handheld multispot metering). As has been stated, a 67II prism (yes, it has PENTAX on it) will not fit on a Pentax 6x7 or Pentax 67 camera, and likewise, the older big, bold, black (and heavy) prisms (repleat with big white PENTAX on the front, or ASAHI PENTAX for those deeper still in antiquity) just will not cuddle up to the (relatively) "new kid on the block".
