Vivitar lens

hi, so I've had this old 135mm 2.8f vivitar lens, and I've done a lot of research on it and it concludes that it is a k mount lens, so I bought a k mount camera, and it didn't fit :/ does it need to be a pentax camera? I bought a Ricoh xr1

No, it doesn't need to be a Pentax camera, the Ricoh should be fine.
Best guess is that your conclusion was incorrect and the lens is not Pentax K-mount.

The XR1 is definitely a k-mount camera. A photo of the lens's mount will be helpful in getting an idea of what it matches up to.

The XR1 seems like a nice camera; I've never used one, but I have an XR7 which is largely similar, and I like it quite a bit. There's a lot of good old glass that works with that camera if you want to stick with it.

On some vivitar lenses the aperture shield is too large and gets in the way. You can remove it and see if it mounts.

I don't think that would have been the case on a K mount film camera. I only hear about that with digital bodies.

Hello and welcome to Pentax Forums!

How did you determine your lens is a K-mount lens? Nikon and Olympus mounts are similar, but don't fit. Probably some others as well.

The Ricoh XR1 is a K-mount camera. Do you have a photo of the mount on your lens? People might be able to advise what it is with a photo.
