Constant AF in pentax KP.

So here is the thing, I would like to try some video, I own a pentax KP but it won't record AF-C while in live view with the lenses I have, does anyone know which lens does records on AF in the pentax KP? I have been reading but last info I could find was from 2017 that's why I'm asking here againg.

TIA, Agi.

Here's our write-up on this topic: Pentax KP Review - Movie Mode | PentaxForums.com Reviews

We've tested that the 55-300mm PLM works, and DA lenses with DC autofocus motors should also work. That includes the 16-85mm, 18-135mm, 18-50mm, and 20-40mm. Not 100% sure on these, but worth a shot if you have them.

As a Pentax KP owner, I've found the best method for shooting video is getting an entry level Lumix.

I can confirm that the 18-135mm does not perform constant focus while in video mode on the KP. Not happy about it either!

Unfortunately, this may be the better solution at this time. The K3iii may solve this problem. I don't know.

The KP was a pretty substantial bump in the bitrate and quality of the 1080p compared to previous cameras. It is absolutely serviceable.

@Agi I have not tried constant af on my KP in video mode as I do not own a PLM/DC lens. Just wondering what kind of footage you're doing that would need constant AF?

I will say it again and again- Ricoh/Pentax needs to develop a new kit lens, forget the now very old DA 18-55mm WR, I mean a good new one that has PLM AF to match up well with the DA 55-300mm PLM AF. Not only better for all around photography, but would provide continuous AF for video.

Sounds like you haven't been in the market since 2015, Mike!
