Pentax mains adapter K3

Probably a silly enquiry, but I've only just got the camera and I don't want to fry it ! When using the mains power adapter, should I remove the batteries from the camera ? Manual does not seem to mention this.

Cheers

Tony

I believe it will sense voltage and bypass. Doubt it will do harm.

There is no caution to remove the battery when using the AC adapter. I use the AC adapter on my K10D with the battery in place with no effect. The battery doesn't get warm so it is not charging and must be being bypassed.

It would be rather unsafe to require the battery to be removed to prevent problems. It would be too easy to forget and there would be warning labels all over about removing it prior to plugging in.

Instructions for use of the AC Adapter are in the user manual for the K-3 (page 28). The only caution in to turn the camera off before plugging the adapter into the camera. The index is helpful for finding stuff like this. That is how I found it, under AC Adapter.

The Pentax-brand adapter K-AC132 will also have instructions.

You can download the user manual from:

Thanks, Steve - I do have the downloaded manual, but must have missed this when I looked. Thanks anyway.

Your question was already answered, so I am moving on to the important part of the post.

Oh my! Is my age showing!

Am I to assume that Van der Graaf Generator and Pawn Hearts and Godbluff are singing groups or bands?

Would this be like me saying "I just listened to The Four Aces or The Mills Brothers?"

VdGG are a 'Prog' band from the seventies - much of their material is on YouTube (which I believe you youngsters enjoy). Pawn Hearts and Godbluff are two of their LPs (or CDs, I suppose, nowadays ...).

Thank you for referring to me as a "youngster" at 78! It makes me feel young... well, young at heart, anyway.

FYI, Peter Hammill the singer of said band is 72, so not far behind you Aggie.
