K1000 no exposure meter

Hey yall. Recently received a secondhand K1000 for Christmas, but noticed after putting the film in there is no exposure needle. Its not at the top or bottom, it just isnt there on the exposure meter!

Ive added a new LR44 battery, but absolutely new change.

Any advice?

Looks very much like it's broken. Where did you get the camera?

Even with no battery, you should see the needle.

Fortunately, the K-1000 will work without the meter - you will, however, need another means of determining exposure. Google the Sunny 16 rule, or there are numerous smartphone light meter apps available.

You are about to enter the world of seat-of-the-pants photography.

Welcome to the Pentax Forums!

Oh! My!

There definitely is no needle and with no needle, no working meter.

This can be repaired, but I have no idea what that would cost in the UK.

Go very old school. Either get a hand-held light meter or use a light meter app on your phone.

Things will take a bit longer, but you will learn a huge amount about exposure in the process.

Plus folk will think you are a pro

When the meter doesn't work many people list the camera as "no meter". I recently got a camera from ebay that was listed as no meter. Someone had removed the meter.

You may want to try US Camera for a replacement! @Hollyisnotsweet
