Pentax DA 50-200mm - Haze

Hello - I have haze underneath the middle group of my Pentax 50-200mm DA lens (non WR).

I removed the decorative bezel, and 4 screws, and front element, but that only gives me access to the front surface of the middle group. Does anyone have any idea how to get to the rear of the middle group? I am dreading that opening from behind might be the only option and I would hate to mess with the electronics and ribbon data cables.

Much appreciated in advance.

Ralf

Even if you do get to the lens group the problem may be deterioration of the cement holding the group together. That is usually the cause of haze deep within a lens. It is quite an involved process to separate, clean and re-cement things back together.

Sounds like a lot of trouble. Have had a few like that, but lenses from 80s and 90s which required oven to separate

Older lenses like the F or FA series often have the rearmost group in a tube which unscrews. Then you can get to the rear of the middle group without taking off the mount. Sometimes you can get more access by removing light shields. I would look at mine but there's a lot of snow between me and the lens right now.
