TTL cord stuck on k70 hotshoe

I got a flash cord for my k70 and it didn't work so I put it on the other way which ended up being backwards and now it's stuck. Been trying to get it off for a few hours now with no luck and am contemplating taking it to a repair shop but I'm broke, I'm sorry I was born stupid.

It happens.

Altura flash transmitter stuck on the hotshoe - PentaxForums.com

If youíre lucky you can use a feeler gauge and free it. If not try taking the end of the cable apart.

Thanks, I'll go out and buy some and give it a shot. Also what do you mean by taking the end of the cable apart?

A picture of the offending cable attachment might gain some ideas as to how to remove it.

I suspect he means taking it apart if there are exposed screws on the foot to get it off the camera. If no screws, doing so might include careful use of a dremel tool or hacksaw blade.

Added: FWIW, potential for wrong way insertion is not uncommon for hot shoe accessories and even flashes. Some devices have one-way feet, but those can be clumsy when used with clamp-type cold-shoe fittings used for off-camera lighting such as the umbrella swivel below.

I come bearing a victory and would like to thank everyone. The good news is I got it out, the bad news is I completely broke the cable apart and my hotshoe looks pretty roughed up.

That is good; and a lesson learned.
