I often use pixel shift, developed in RT with the median setting for water. Depending on the length of the individual exposures it can smooth things quite a bit. Of course, it is only four images, so it isn't going to make the water look like mayonnaise unless each image is 0.5 seconds or more.

Here are three shots made at different shutter speeds. All made within a minute or so. The first shot is made at 1/400 second, he second at 1/25 second and the third at 1/8 second. Even at 1/25 second, you can start to see the effect and by 1/8 second you get that nice silky look that people seem to prefer.


Love the shot with the threads. A nice variation of what one normally sees.
