Quick update (and a chance to show off!) …
I've just received a Sigma EF-500 DG ST PA-PTTL (£5 + p&p from your local friendly auction site, including a set of Duracells!) and can confirm that it works (almost) perfectly as a P-TTL flash on the bodies I've tried.
The only slight niggle is that the focal length indicator LEDs on the flash relate to a full-frame camera, but are accurate on an APS-C camera, in that the flash appears to interpret the angle of coverage of the fitted lens and adjusts itself to suit, with no vignetting.
