Counterfeit Pentax-M lens?

Hi everyone, I have recently been looking for a Pentax-M 28mm 2.8 lens, and come across an odd listing. The lens lacks the serial number, also the letters look somehow weird(?). Is it possible that it is fake? I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Counterfeit Pentax-M lens?

Serial number should be on the barrel.
Some had it on the name ring. If the name ring was replaced, no number will be on replacement

Hi, welcome to Pentax Forums!

It's probably not a fake. Two versions of this lens are shown here: SMC Pentax-M 28mm F2.8 Reviews - M Prime Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

In particular: "This popular lens came in two nearly-identical variations, depending on the year of production. The second version had the optical formula of the smc PENTAX-A version and it also looks like an early A lens (no silver decorative ring)."

It is also considered the better of the two models.

As already mentioned, this looks like the 2nd version of the M 28 f2.8. Should be fine. In fact I found it to be slightly better than the first version on a DSLR.
