Using the K5 here: which firmware version is needed for the D FA 150-450 lens ?

I have been "testing" my daughter's D FA 150-450 on my K3 ... all is well so far.

I am planning to test it today with my K5 ... I have firmware version 1.16 installed on the K5.
Will that firmware version work?

Thanks !!

Why not use the compatibility checker?

Note that firmware updates are required for the Pentax K-S1, K-S2, and K-3 for full compatibility and optimal focusing with this lens. Older cameras will not fully support the dedicated AF buttons found on the lens barrel.

So it says "Fully Compatible" which is great.
I will go and "test" that lens on my "old" K5 now.

Thanks !!
As I said earlier, I will do the testing today.
Just wondering if the small AF buttons around the lens will also work ? We shall see.

And while I'm at it, will the D GB5 battery grip on my K3 work on my old K5 ?
Thanks!

AFAIK, the battery grips are all camera-specific, although they can be used on the Mk. II iterations of the same model. For the K-3 III, Ricoh designed a new dedicated battery grip.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but

Thanks to all !

The info is much appreciated.

The lens works fine on both cameras but .... as mentioned by RGlasel ....those small AF button ln the lens do not work with the K5 but work great on the K3.

So much for trying to make "new" stuff work with "old" stuff!

As for the battery grips ... too bad the K3 grip will not work on the "old" k5!

Cheers!
