Are there old Pentax models with no model shown but just PENTAX?

An old 84 year friend wants me to buy his Pentax. But he sees no model. He is 100 miles away and can not send a photo.

The H2 is described here: Pentax S2 (H2) - Pentax M42 Screwmount Film SLRs - Pentax Camera Reviews and Specifications

Produced 1959-1962, so 1960 fits.

Edit: Sorry, on second thought, I guess that you already own an H2.

Hello,

Can you get the serial number? That may help narrow it down. As others have said the Asahi Pentax from 1957 had no other model designation as "PENTAX" was the model name.
And we are assuming we are talking about an SLR camera right? Not any other Pentax device.
Also, Asahiflex (pre-Pentax) had screw type nameplates that could be removed. Does it say Tower anywhere?

Thanks,
Ismael

The SP500 also didn’t have a model number.
I miss my copy of that model, loaned it to a relative and never got it back

He doesn't even have a camera phone + internet? If he were my friend, I would ask him to try a little harder. Ask somebody to help send an email with image attatched? My 99 year's old grandma can use internet phone.

I would say every Pentax with M42 mount should have it's model engraved on the top beside the rewind knob.
Only the orginal first Pentax should be without the engraving.

But who knows if there are not some models, that lack the engraving, they should have?
I would also recommend to get some pictures of the camera an post here to be sure.
