No 14mm Lens Setting for K-1ii Shake Reduction

I just got a 14mm super wide angle rectilinear lens to fill in the gap between my 12mm fisheye and my 20-35mm Pentax zoom. So far, it works really well. I like how WIDE the FOV is without the distortions of my 12mm (although I've taken some cool shots with the 12mm fish that I like).

The only "issue" is that my K-1ii doesn't recognize it, which would be fine as I have to enter "12mm" for my fisheye, so entering 14mm shouldn't be an issue. The problem is my K-1ii doesn't have "14mm" as a choice. It jumps from 12mm to 15mm. I think the camera uses the focal length to do the shake reduction (which I LOVE as my hands are not as steady as they once were), and so I'd like it to be set to the correct focal length.

Is there a way to add "14mm" to the list of possible focal lengths? Most of my lenses (Pentax) are recognized by the K-1ii, with the exception of my 400-600 cat zoom lens and, of course, my two super wide lenses (14mm and 12mm).

I dont know if you can manually add a 14mm setting for it. I would set it to the 15mm, as it's the closest setting for it.

It is unfortunate that Pentax doesn't offer way to dial-in the focal length to the nearest millimeter.

That said, you'll find that a setting of "15 mm" is good enough for a "14 mm" lens. The 15 mm setting will correct about 93% of the shake. If you typically get about 3 stops of shake reduction if you could use a "14 mm" setting, you'll still get about 2.4 stops of shake reduction with the "15 mm" setting.

The Q does, I don’t know why they didn’t adapt the same system along the way for the DSLRs

Since there exists the DA14, the setting is missing. On the other hand, going with 15mm is fine. In reality your 14mm lens may be closer to 15mm anyways.

From a Shake Reduction viewpoint, the difference between 14mm and 15mm is two fifths of bugger-all, as we say in Australia.

Don't sweat it.

Mind you, it does seem strange, given that Pentax has a 14mm lens still in production.

Although the 14mm lens made by Pentax is fully recognised by the camera and doesn’t need to be manually entered in like the Rokinon 14mm A-lens I have. I don’t think it matters anyway. Anyone wanting the full effect of SR with such a wide angle lens is essentially asking for the ability to hand-hold a shot with a 1-2 second shutter speed. How often does this practically happen? You’d be better off using a tripod for the expected long-exposure wide-angle dusk shots.

Two second exposure, hand held at 15mm on the K-1. Such circumstances do arise

Now you’re just showing off what the SR Pentax is so capable of, Sandy
You’re probably right, they could arise, to expand the capability just a touch, although only by that little bit extra so you can keep the tripod at home…

The DA isn't a full frame lens, so no surprise if they haven't tuned the K1 for that specific focal length. Also, have you mounted a DA14 to know for sure that it isn't a recognized lens?
