I don't think it would be possible. K bayonet diameter is bigger then M42 thread, therefore with sticking adapter on the back you would need to move the lens further away from the focal plain and you'd loose infinity focus.

Axl has it right. The rear of a K mount is bigger and the adapter would have to be quite deep to adapt the k mount. The register distance (from the rear element to the film or sensor plane) on a Pentax is 45.46 mm and that can't change to keep infinity focus.

Still it would be very useful to have such an adapter to use k-mount lenses on a screw mount bellows, where infinity focus isn't an issue. Or, I suppose I could just buy a k-mount bellows unit, lol.
Hmmm, I should check to see if there's a screw mount reversing ring made <lightbulb flickers in ER's head>

I believe there is, whether or not you will find a genuine Pentax one though, I don't know. I would say unlikely. it would make sense though. an m42 on one side and a 49mm on the other which would give you a wide range of choices in both m42 and k mount.

as for the OP, no. Pentax has in fact not made an adapter to use K mount lenses on an M42 body. it would be impossible to do without loss of infinity focus. or the degradation of image quality with the extra glass needed, to be recessed into the mount. the K mount is just too wide for such an adapter.

I also have one of those reversing rings. Don't use it much but it works just fine.
For a bellows a K to M42 adapter would be nice. I've never seen one though.

I think you mis-understood the OP's question. This is an m42 screw(male) to 49mm filter ring adaptor. or as more commonly called a reversing ring that you just ordered. He is looking to use a K-mount lense on a Spottie which is m42 to K and no such a critter exists.

I own one. It is made by Spiratone.
It is approximately 1cm deep, so infinity focus is lost.

The funny thing with pentax is the compatibility. It's like LEGO. in combination with screws and mounts you can build more or less, whatever you want from it.

This is a very unique thing watching for example canon switching a lot from digital and old-history

while a direct adaptor simply cannot exist since the registration of M42 screw mounts is the same as K mounts, and a K mount is bigger in diameter, you could modify a K mount teleconverter by removing the K mount that connects to the camera, and replacing it with an M42 mount.

this would at least give you infinity focus, BUT you would not be able to get the automatic apature pin working on the M42 side, without a lot of mechanicla work, so you would work in stopped doen metering mode only

you would also give up either 1 or 2 stops (depending on 1.4x or 2x TC)

It does exist such critter

and it has a (fine glass if you are thinking otherwise) lens that allows focus to infinity, but hasn't been around for a while.

I have an old Vivitar screw-mount SLR. I took off the M42 mounting plate and replaced it with one from a broken K1000. It now takes K-mount lenses and still can use M42 with the standard adapter. No auto-aperture anymore, though.
