Lens compatibility

g'day fellow users.

I did look up the resources here and also done the lens compatibility check but couldn't quite understand what i saw.

So, a stupid Qn but, pardon me.

This Sigma lens, the 70-300 DG OS.
Can this lens be used fine on the K200D?

Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG OS Lens Reviews - Sigma Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

Based on the result i see on the lens compatibility checker.
It seems the K200D is unable to control this lens.

But just wanted to ask, in case i am deciphering it completely incorrect.

I believe it is fully compatible (not sure about the OS, but this should be disabled anyway if you plan to use the camera's SR system). We don't have many of the older Sigma lenses in the compatibility checker, which is why you didn't see it there.

I have a Sigma 70-300mm DG (non OS) that is fully compatible with newer and older Pentax cameras. Auto focus, aperture settings fully controlled by camera. Actually pretty sharp glass in good light when you can stop down just a bit.

No reason why it would not work perfectly well. The K200D has contacts for using lenses having DC and SDM motors. OS is in-lens optical stabilization, the counterpart to our Pentax in-camera SR.

I have that lens and it should be compatible. I will differ in turning off the lens OS unless being used on a tripod. When used with the older 2 axis ibis cameras I found it better to turn off the camera ibis stabilization and use the OS of the lens as I found it to work better than the in camera. Now that I have the K1 Mkll with it's 5 axis stabilization the OS does get left off.
