Pop up flash on Z-1p

Hey all,

Longtime owner of a PZ-10, but just got a Z-1p off ebay, and the pop up flash seems to not wanna spring up on its own.

I've seen a few forums where ppl attempt to fix this by opening up the camera and glueing back on the little piece of broken plastic that seems to be the cause of the issue, but my question is this: How do you even get into the camera? I haven't been able to find any resources on how to get the top cover off. Does anyone happen to know?

Thanks in advance

You have 7 x non-so-hidden screws
- One each at the left and right side in the strap hole
- Three under the flash (which you have to open manually with a credit card or similar)

- Two beneath the rubber eye cap.

Hidden:
- Deep inside the battery box.

I have uploaded the servicemanual and partslist
but check this thread:

Be sure to remove the battery before going at the flash so there's no chance the flash capacitor will charge - just in case.

Thanks so much for this!

I'm going to give it a try tonight and see what I can find. Has anyone managed to actually solve this pop up flash issue permanently?

Good luck!
And Bob 256 is right of course to take the battery out!

As for the flash-capacitor:
It won't charge as long as the pop-up-flash hasn't popped up.
Right away when it is open, the condensor charges.

If ever it would be charged:

Doesn't really matter if DSLR, SLR or any other

Would an alternate solution be to remove the battery and wait for the capacitor to discharge? Is that even possible?

As I never had to test it, I will not recommend there any time.
If you read option 1 in the link I gave or just get a 100k 5W resistor.

So I got the camera open ok, but I broke the pop-up flash cover in the process. It was barely hanging on anyway, but now both plastic pieces where it screws into the flash are broken.

Does anyone have an extra one that i can purchase from them? Maybe if someone a spare z-1 or z-1p that you use for parts?
