Battery chamber on my 645 won't shut tight

I bought a 645 off the internet, and everything works fine, except that the battery chamber won't shut tight. It has to be "forced", and it then just goes back out. I've double checked the batteries and everything seems to be fine, I don't know why it won't go all the way in. The camera' electronics works fine, but it can cause the batteery chamber to fall off, if carried in a bag.

It should have a plastic tab that engages with the pin between the two contacts on your last photo. Is that plastic tab perhaps worn or damaged?

It is similar to batterydoors of the Pentax 360/540 FGZ (Series 1) flashes!

The plastic ages over time and gets brittle.
The previous owner must have known about it!
