Compatibility of Sigma 17-70mm DC Macro with KS2

Hi, I am new to this forum, can anyone confirm that the Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4.5 DC Macro is compatible with the KS2. I have read the reviews on here, but when I check compatibility with the KS2, it says it can't find this lens only the version of this lens with the HSM motor which was the next model.

Thanks

The Sigma lens was sold for various mounts. If your lens has a K mount, which is the mount that Pentax uses, then yes it is compatible. Pentax doesn't update its firmware to make older lenses from third party companies no longer work, like Canon did with the EF mount. All third party K-Mount lenses work on Pentax K-mount digital cameras.

Its a nice lens, I have 2 copies and both work well with crop Pentax bodies.

I have this lens and have used it with both the K-50 and K-70 (KS2 falls between these two in terms of age and capability), and it works well. The only problem I've found is that the lens is not identified properly in Lightroom. It just shows up as 'Sigma or Tamron lens' although there is a correction profile for it that you can apply manually. There is no correction profile for it in DxO Photolab. If you don't use either of these programs it's not an issue, and even if you do, it only affects automatic lens corrections and identification. All other editing features work fine.
It's a much nicer lens than the kit 18-55, although it is bigger and heavier.

I agree. It's a major upgrade from the original version of the Pentax 18-55 kit lens that I had. I use mine with a K-5IIs and KP, and it gives very nice results.
