Image Sync app

To use the Image Sync app to trigger the shutter release, the camera has to be set to single frame mode. So you can't use the camera's timer.

Does Image Sync have a timer function?
And if not, why not? I want to be able to control the camera remotely while being in the picture, but it looks stupid if I'm holding a tablet or phone and pressing a button. A function for taking multiple shots at set intervals would be helpful, too.

It does not AFAIK, you'd have to use a third party app or simply get a remote F.

The current version of Image Sync does allow you to use the timer. When you're in capture mode, tap the the wheel icon for settings. As per the screen captures below, you can choose all the remote timer options.
You can also set them on the camera itself and it will appear under settings.
This works for Android, I'm not sure about iOS but would assume it's the same.

K3 III or K1 or K1 II? Camera firmware version?

I tried Image Sync v2.1.12 with both K1 and K1 II, none offer any timer or any drive mode option.

That sure looks like the right solution. But the iOS version doesn't have nearly as many options to set.
Unbelievable.

Thanks for the reply.

Were you actually connected to the camera when you looked? I have them all under 'drive mode.' which you will not see unless connected to camera. iOS iP12m & KP

Yes, it's kinda obvious to do so, if the camera isn't connected there is no access to the settings.

According to the online manual, that timer only works with the K-3 Mark III. I have a K70.

There's probably no hope of Ricoh changing that. It doesn't even need to control the camera's timer. It'd be simple to have the app pause a few seconds before sending the signal to trigger the shutter.

I guess I have to buy the remote control if I want to be in the picture.

No need. You can use the K70 interval shooting mode and enable focus at each shot, you can do so in menu C2/12/13, user manual page 72.

There's a button for settings either way.

NO, on the K1 and K1II the settings button is greyd out if the camera isn't connected.

Yes... as I stated, using the KP; it may not be the same on the K1, the KIII, or a Nikon.

Why? Get yourself into the picture, then use imagesync to activate the shutter. No timer required. I did that many times with the KP.
