If I crop after the fact, did I use a different f-stop? My friend, who also uses an Olympus and gets great results, always tells me his lens in 36mm terms. I counter that I can crop my photo in post and my lens becomes his FF equivalent.

As to noise, he used to shoot as a pro with a Hasselblad and Zeiss glass and has no problems with his m3/4 sensor camera. I have seen his 28" x21" (4x3) prints and they are beautiful.

and Norm, He was with me and took a better photo than me of a woodpecker with wood chips flying! He got the male spitting them out though and not chipping them two days after I caught this couple fighting.

But you double the amount of light you reduce the noise and then you increase the accuracy of the values placed into the color space
You do realize that reciprocity expresses itself in higher noise on digital? So you can increase your time, but reciprocity may take away any advantage. The value of 32 ISO can only be established by side to side images, taken with the same camera , maybe 32 64 and 100 ISO, then looking at the image at the size it should be displayed. One picture is not a comparison.

You're probably assimilating more than you think.
