55mm 1.4 focus ring no stops

Hello,

I have purchased a 55mm 1.4 DA Star. Focus needs warming up but is okay after and I was aware of this hiccup. HOWEVER, the manual focus ring goes past infinity with no stop and the same for minimum distance. There is no feeling to the touch that there was ever a stop prohibiting this behaviour. Is this normal or should I be aware that perhaps this is an indication of something else waiting in the wings. The focus ring works fine other than this.(Pics are great.)I don't know this lens so I do not know if this is typical behavior or not. This was not bought here, elsewhere, but I have a chance of returning or negotiating. All elucidations would be greatly appreciated. Advance thanks for your thoughts. James

Normal. All modern lenses work this way.

that is the quickshift feature of the lens - in manual focus mode, you'll get a bit more feedback, but it'll never feel like a 'true' manual focus lens....

I don't have the DA* 55mm. On my DA* 50-135mm and DA 18-135mm, I feel a slight but definite resistance at either end of the focus range. Beyond those points, the focus ring may be rotated with a slightly stronger force.

You nailed it. Thank you. I just noticed a slight hitch last time that I missed before. Cheers.
