SMC Pentax 1000mm F8 Mount problem

Hello all

I just bought a SMC Pentax 1000mm F8 but found it doesn’t come with the k Mount.

I wonder anyone know what’s the mount
Now (is it T Mount) or which adapter that I can get to make the lens back to Pentax k Mount ?

Thanks much all.

I have no experience of that lens but from the photos it looks like it is missing the removable K-mount itself.

Have you contacted the seller ?

The K 1000 mm f=8.0 comes with a detachable mount like the one that is seen on the second picture. That is so, that one can insert 52mm filters into the opitcal path. The "mount" your refer to is just the piece of the lens where the end section of the lens with the K-mount can be dismounted for doing so. It is 100% sure, that this is no standard mount or any standard attachment can be mounted. So, when the piece shown on the second picture is missing your lens is not complete.

Assuming the lens is complete, I.e. the removable back section is present, thee is also the possibility that the lens was modified for a different body .

I seem to recall, Pentax made the 500/4.5 (same mount arrangement) in Nikon mount. As an example. Maybe they also made different mounts for the 1000

It is most unlikely that you will find the mount part seperately from the lens (did you get this from Japan? asking around suppliers there would be a possibility). However the detachablity of the mount means there are no complications with aperture connections, so engineering a replacement is simpler. I'll measure up mine later for you. My MO would be to modify something like a deglassed teleconverter.
Or a slightly different idea: convert the lens into an adaptall. Pick up one of the older heavier tamron adaptall lenses with a thick barrel, chop off the end with the mount and rejig to fit the pentax. Then you can use an adaptall mount of your choice.. (the particular reason I have been contemplating doing this for mine is so I can use my 02F tamron eyepiece adapter with the lens, converting it into a 50x telescope).
Looking at my lens there's no big difficulties, you have the threaded locking sleeve so the mount just needs a flange the right size to match.
Neither diy will be the same as the original which is bayoneted so you don't have to completely unscrew the locking sleeve, and has portrait/landscape rotation incorporated, but either suggestion should work.

According to Lowell the "K" 500-4.5 has the same mount so if you acquired that you would be set (looking at the pics for ebay item 364487262247 - an example of the 500-4.5 - it looks the same end configuration).

Hi, I have the M42 Tele-Takumar version of that lens. Due to the size of the lens, the lens is normally mounted on a tripod, then the small adapter section is attached to the camera, then the adapter and lens are joined. When they produced your k mount version, the just changed the screw mount to a K mount. contact the seller and ask for the other part of the lens to be forwarded or get a refund

Thank you guys. This is a really great forum that the members are so enthusiastic to help.

I got the lens from Japan yahoo auction through my friend, he tried to contact the seller for the Mount but I think there’s no luck.

I don’t think I can refund the lens, so I am considering to ask a local technician to modify it to K mount.

By the way I am so glad that I bought the Pentax K3 Mono so that I can use a lot of great Pentax lenses indeed.

.
if the back part is missing you need to make a new "extension tube" for lack of a better explanation, to go onto this mount. in fact, you should start any new adaptor with a K mount extension tube, because then it is only about making one interface at the right distance to guarantee infinity focus.

if you just put a K mount in place of what is on the lens at present, it wont work because you will not have the lens properly set to infinity.

same mount arrangement is not the same thing as mount / part.

@garywakeling yes that makes perfect sense.
Here are some dimensions for you meteorhk in case they may be helpful. Note I only have cheap plastic vernier calipers.

Thanks Marcus and all.

Apart from making one, is it really hard to get a replacement from market?

Hello, the simple solution would be if possible, to be able to check the base that you are missing is the same as a Pentax k smc 500mm, and to buy on ebay an inexpensive 500mm for the base.

If they are the same, by a 500/4.5 and use both, using the base as a quick change point between lenses
