Recently acquired this Asahi Pentax SV (#1884906). The lens reads Super-Takumar 1:1.8/55 (#1851141). The camera shutter seems to work now after cleaning the mechanisms under the bottom plate. The focus ring is smooth and the aperture ring clicks as normal. The 6 aperture blades do stick and hesitate before reaching the correct setting. I assume I will have to get the lens cla'd. Until then I am going to shoot it wide open just to run a role of B&W thru it to see what other problems occur. The out side appearance is good. But being somewhat new to this size Pentax it might take a while to get it right. Any suggestions are welcome.
I have had quite a few of these SVs. They are superb cameras and I seldom miss the light meter. Just use sunny 16 rule or your phone. If your lens blades are sticky, you should select the lens to manual and then select the aperture you need, waiting until it settles where you want it. A final caution; many of my old cameras have failed because of dried out shutter curtains or tapes glue. Be gentle with your winding, and if a curtain lets go, do not wind it until repaired. Your 1.8/55 lens is a very good one.
