Setting exposure bracketing for HDR shooting?

I must be having brain freeze. Or the Pentax K20 manual is poorly written. Either way, I can't get the Exposure Bracket mode working. Perhaps the dials are set wrong? Wrong menu context?

When I follow the instructions on p. 129 ("turn e-dial while pressing Exp. bracket button"), I get nothing, and no response on the LCD screen.

Help.

What exposure mode are you in?
Exposure bracketing does not work in either GREEN or BULB (B) mode.

Try setting the camera on AV mode, set to f/5.6 or so, ISO on 100...then pressing the bracketing button and use the dial...the LCD on top should show OFF, 3 or 5 and the ability to adjust the exposure variants within those choices.

You probably know this, but hold down the bracketing button while you are turning the dial.
