The "Pentax K20D" is the best camera in the whole known UNIVERSE! That is until we discover a parallel universe where the "HOLGA" rules...

In my opinion there is no better camera for the price. Of course there are better cameras if you have lots of money to spend.

The K20D is awesome and hard to beat for the $'s you invest. If you have a $15K budget (i say at the risk of being banished from the earth) get a EOS 5D Mark II and all the Canon L glass you can afford.

I just bought one, and I've never been happier with a camera... though I must admit I have had fun with a holga as well...

Just received mine today and I'm selling my Nikon D300. I'm also an ex k10d user.

+Slightly smaller

+Slightly less weight

+Still weather sealed

+Similar IQ

+Better ergonomics IMHO and also more simple to use (less electronic dodads to get in my way)

+Availability of limited lenses and more lenses designed for APS-C use

++Shake reduction all all lenses

+++Cheaper

-AF not as advanced

-less frames per second

-slightly smaller viewfinder

- fewer lenses to choose from compared to the big 2

-less fancy meter

Yeah I'm sure the list can go on. Basicly it depends what your intended purpose is for the camera.

It's a great camera for a great price and if it fits your needs go for it.

I was under the impression the D300 could take several decades worth of Nikon glass. Not true?

I'd also put three - - - for the Pentax flash system. I get better results in manual mode than TTL.

do you like to take telephoto shots at high speeds?

the body is fine but the prices of the lens that used to make pentax a value for money system is murder at least imho.

D300, yes. D50/D80/D90/D60/D40, no. I was comparing to the models that are competitive with the K20D. D300 is in a different class.

Not sure what lenses you are looking at, but at many if not most focal lengths, Pentax lenses *are* still cheaper than their counterparts for other systems. But there is always the occasional lens for which someone else makes a cheaper version, and of coruse, Pentax doesn't offer much at all in the "extreme" telephoto focal lengths (eg, beyond 300mm).
