K20D - AF in Live View

I can't get the AF to work if I follow Page 114 of the Manual:
" When the focus mode is set to AF.S and the AF button is pressed during
Live View, the displayed image will disappear and AF will activate. Once
focused, the image will be displayed in Live View again."

I either have to revert to MF or focus first and then get into Live View.

Am I missing something?

Assuming you are using an auto focus lens and it works correctly when using the optical view finder, then if pressing on the AF button on the back of your K20D doesn't work, something is wrong with your camera body.

Some lenses have MF clutches or switches. These need to be in the right position for AF to work. This is why there is the stipulation that you have a known working auto focus lens attached. If you are sure everything is set correct on the lens or that the lens doesn't have any MF/AF switch or clutch, then the rear AF button should deactivate live view, drop the mirror, and allow the AF system to do it job. You have to hold the rear AF button down until the camera activates live view again.

Thanks. I was not holding the AF button long enough!
Also noticed that when you turn the rear dial to enlarge, the display goes directly to the spot selected for AF!

Much appreciate your prompt response.
