Newbie question

I recently was given a JCPenney 135mm lens. It looks like a manual focus. It fits on the camera (K10D) well. When I turned it on, it immediately began flashing "F---" on the LCD screen. I'd assume that means it can't set aperture, so I switched it over to AV and started dialing knobs to set the aperture.

No joy... Nothing actually changed. What do I need to change for settings to get this lens to work?

It is indeed full manual. The "F---" actually means that you have to input the focal length for the "shake reduction" to operate. You also need to set the "Aperture ring" to "permitted" (or something similar) in the set up menu. Then, you will be able to use it in manual and aperture priority modes. Good luck and have fun.

edit: I hate when somebody types faster than me.

AHA!

Yep. That worked like a charm. I'll need to get used to how it works, but that's the fun!!!

Thank you very much for your assistance!!!

I type slow. Probably slower than you. Don't feel bad. I shoot pics fast, however!
