Metz CL-1 & *istD Problem

I have the *istD and a Metz CL-1 flash.

I have the SCA3702 adapter and the 3000 cable.

I cannot get the camera to trigger the flash.

The flash does work (i can manually trigger it on the unit)

I bought the 3000 cable 'used' and with no directions tried both combinations for the batteries...

So the question is: do i have the correct configuration?

Any guidance greatly appreciated!

(great forum BTW, i already learned how ISO affects the flash exposure for these cameras )

Can you trigger the flash by shorting the center pin (sync signal) and the ground (on the sides of the foot of the SCA3702)?

Do you have another flash unit to make sure the *istD is OK in terms of triggering the flash?

I think the Metz can accommodate a basic sync cord with PC terminal. Do you have that cable? If you do, does the *istD has a PC receptacle you can plug the sync cord into?

Please try these and report back.

Ah! Okay - i will try that & let you know.

I 'think' the camera does not have another port to trigger - but i will check the directions....

My concern was that the 'CL-1 does not accept *istD and only works for film cameras' ...

Also, as i look at the batteries when i open the cover on the 3000 adapter I see (looking left to right) - + - + Can you tell me if i have the battery polarities correct?

Thanks!

I don't have the CL-1. I do have a CT-4, but I'm using a simple sync cord, no SCA thus don't know much about it.

The CL-1 should accept a sync cord like this one. I bought a cheapo version from FleaBay for about $10.

I don't think it is a case of "the 'CL-1 does not accept *istD and only works for film cameras' ...". The interface to set the exposure may not be correct, but the flash should fire.

Thanks for the linkee.

The flash came with a PC that looks quite similar. I will try it.

Status:
No. No amount of shorting the pins on the SCA3702 adapter will trigger the flash.

The manual does not mention a PC connection/ouptut.

Bummer. I plan to sell or trade the flash/bracket/battery pack/charger/adapters for a dedicated Pentax flash that mounts to the camera.
