you do have the lens set to 'A' yes? and as someone else pointed out, the FA series of lenses do not feature the 'quick shift' focus mechanism.

Hi everyone, thank you all for trying to help. I actually decided to bring the lens back. They gave me a replacement 31mm lens and it actually lookes slightly different physically, lens caps and all. I tested it out and I am VERY happy! Here are a few sample images converted from raw to jpeg. I really like this lens now.

If you want a sharper picture at a shutter speed of 1/6 s and aperature of 1.8, you will need a tripod. I don't think your in camera shake reduction would overcome settings such as that.

Your latest pictures were taken on a sunny day-- more light will allow the AUTO mode of your camera to increase shutter speed and aperature settings improving the "sharpness" of your shot.

If the focus ring is hard to turn, you have bought a damaged lens. Return it and get another one.

I have to say this and please don't take offense. I fail to see the logic in buying a K20D followed by a Limited lens and then using the combo in green mode. That's a rather expensive Point and Shoot.

Well, in your first thread a few weeks ago, you said you shoot mainly in green mode. Obviously your skill levels have come on in leaps and bounds in such a short time. That's a new one on me, using the green mode to test a lens.
There's no need to be aggressive, that won't get you far.
The purpose of my post was to make what was in my opinion a valid comment. You obviously took it the wrong way, that's your problem not mine.

I still don't believe it was the lens personally.

So do I. The 1st lens aperture wasn't stuck @ 1.8 as there were a few shoots @ 2.0 or 3.5.

Look, who really cares what you think? This thread is like a bing commercial, a few good bits of information interjected with a bunch of nonsense

So next time, just don't ask us our opinion about your "new shiny mega-billion lens which doesn't work 'cause you don't know how to use it". We were trying to help you...
