File size too large

I photograph with the Pentax K20D usually on 14.6 megapixels and **** for image quality. When I submit images for contests or webpages there is frequently an error message stating that the file size is too large probably due to the high resolution.

Resize the image using a tool such as Photoshop. 800 pixels wide is big enough to show on a website or email to friends.

Someone here turned me onto a free download of FastStone Photo Resizer that is pretty effective and simple for things like the compression, renaming, effects and water marking of multiple files in a few clicks. Look around and cautiously download a free program and give that a try.

You can also try free Google Picasa. When exporting, you may choose to resize the image.
