Considering that the lens is AF and it's not broken, your camera is probably set to AF?
On AF, focus ring can still be turned, but you need a bit of force (unless a lens has quick-shift focusing; your tamron doesn't). Set your camera to MF, and it will turn easily.

You can try dismounting the lens - if the ring still doesn't turn, it's probably broken.

It is an AF lens and I tried to turn the ring in AF and MF setting. With a lot of force it will turn . When I remove the lens from the body it turns easily.

Hm... It should be easy to turn on MF setting since the AF thingy in the body is not connected with the lens. When it's on AF, it will be hard to turn since you are turning against motor - so there's a lot of friction.

The *lens* is in the MF position, or the *camera*? Usually, you need to set the *camera* to MF to get MF to work.

I have tried the MF/AF selector switch in both positions on the camera body. Still no change with the focus ring on the lens. I'm going to assume that there is a problem with the swith on the body.

Take the lens off, and see if the camera's AF shaft moves in/out when changing the position of the switch.

Have you toggled the zoom creep lock on the side of the lens?

Yep... There's something else happening in the body or electronics when you switch from AF-S to AF-C though.

Well I don't have my copy at them moment so I can't remember whether it affects the focus ring as well. So I just asked the question in case it helps.
Beginners have been known to get mixed up between the zoom ring and focus ring as well.
