Do you even need a DSLR? With your mobility challenges, would you be better off with a compact camera, which you can easily hold in one hand? For half the price of a K20 you could get a top-of-the-range compact that will take stunning photos and will conveniently slip into your pocket.
I do have a compact camera -- a Canon G9 -- which is a great little camera and not too heavy. I took it with me when I went to Australia for five weeks last fall and came back with many, many great photos.

However, for around here and when I am able to drive again, I do like the SLR. I have a *ist DL2 at present and am looking to upgrade from that.

I hope you enjoyed the time over here.I don't think 5 weeks wouldn't be long to see all of this great country. You'll have to come back again for longer next time. Then you can bring your new Pentax with you.I'm also having the same dilemma on upgrading. The K20D or the K7?It is a hard choice at the end of the day,but we are the ones that have to make it,mainly on we want in the camera and what we can afford.Like a lot of people are saying on this forum, the K20D would be the best for your buck at the moment, but in a few years time, everyone will be saying that about the K7 when the newer Pentax is released. As long as you buy a Pentax, you really can't go wrong.Let us all know what you decide.Good luck!

Hey Barnster,

I had a great time in Asutralia; one of the highlights was taking the Ghan to Alice, spending a week there touring around, and then continuing on to Darwin. Both my Aussie friend and I had been to many of the places we visited, but that did not detract in any way.
