Good choice man. Like all Pentax cameras, you won't be disappointed with any whether you went with K2000 or K200D. I own the K2000 myself and I am happy with it, let us know how it works for you once you get it.

Enjoy! You will have more questions once you get it but it won't be a steeplearning curve.
There are lots of people here to help anyway.
Cheers!

My first DSLR was a K10D. Weather resistance was an important feature to me. Probably the main thing that sold me on that camera was the feel and general ergonomics of the camera. I felt very comfortable right from the first time I picked it up. Good luck and enjoy.

Welcome to the Pentax family! Ironic, isn't it, that the K2000 is assembled in the Philippines but you're getting it shipped from your aunt in California? You could have just taken a ferry to pick it up LOL!

I've was in the City of Smiles last year - good chicken!

Hello Rustynail

The size of the polariser is usually dependant on the lens, not the body. If you find the technical details online of the lenses you bought in your package that should tell you. Off the top of my head I think it's 49mm & 52mm for the 50-200 and 18-55 respectively, but I don't have my stuff with me so don't take my word for it, I'd rather someone doublechecked this with the actual lenses

Would weathersealing be important to you? If so get the K200D and the DA 18-50 WR lens and have a fully weather sealed kit. I have the K200D and I like it alot. Easy to use for a newbe, but with features that you can use as you gain experience.
This is one of the same reasons I bought mine. Also, I was looking for a camera that took AA batteries and SD cards. The weather sealing and inbody stabilization made it a difference between the Canikons.

UV for glare, polariser to limit reflections. But digital isn't nearly as prone to glare as 35mm used to be, they're used as protection nowadays (do put on a lens hood though).

Polarisers are great, they darken skies, cut reflections and in terms of starting with photography, if you're going to get just 1 filter get a circular polariser

Nah, my mom is from Bohol and dad from Nueva Vizcaya. I visited Bacolod on a motorcycle tour - Dumaguete/Bacolod/Ilo Ilo/Boracay and back.

Ironic that you can't find any Pentax in one of the countries where they are made/assembled...
